Today was odd being back on the ship. All is back to “normal” as we continue classes, readings, essays and activities—all while still trying to comprehend the experiences had while in Venezuela. I had no idea Semester at Sea would be so demanding. I feel my entire being becomes engulfed and exhausted with all that is to be done. After several hours of reading, I caught up on my reading only to realize I had two more chapters and two essays left. Mom and dad, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that even if I fail all my classes, it will not be time and money wasted, for I am learning irregardless of my grades. My 0800 class remains dry and even with the black coffee we had, it was a serious struggle to stay awake. This morning, I went to class in my PJ’s as I woke up with just enough time to brush my teeth and go upstairs. After Global Studies, I talked with Victor, the interport student from Brazil about politics, life in Rio and his impression of the U.S. It was quite interesting! The rest of the day went by in a blur, as is the norm for this voyage. I am about to head upstairs to officially sign up to be an Ambassador. From there, I have every intention of falling asleep…

By the way, due to the ever-so efficient Venezuelan postal service, only like five people got their mail …I was not one of those five. But rest assured, mail to other ports is much more likely to get to me!

rest

Hi. So glad you'll be getting some much needed sleep!
Everything will look better, even the food. :)
Just an FYI - the Atlantis gave us a credit for the funds missing from your luggage. No satisfaction on room charges at this time.
On a local note - CSUS, UCD, and McGeorge are waiving this semesters fees and helping with admittance for students displaced from their universities due to Katrina.
Speaking of schools, have you ever received lower than a "B" in a class? :)
Do keep in mind we know this will be a fun and rewarding semester, whatever grades you receive!
Love,
Mom & Dad
